We aim to build a supportive network that nurtures talent, promotes mental well-being, and cultivates a generation of proactive leaders committed to sustainable development and positive societal change.
Our Story
Sri Lanka has experienced profound challenges with youth engagement, marked by past uprisings and a prolonged civil conflict spanning decades in both northern and southern regions. Post-independence governments have largely neglected comprehensive youth development initiatives, leading to the rise of extremism and armed movements among the younger population. Today, many educated and talented youth seek opportunities abroad due to limited prospects at home. Recognizing this, existing efforts to integrate educated youth into governmental structures have often been ineffective. Without clear career paths, many young Sri Lankans struggle to find direction.
The Ceylon Youth Movement (CYM) is committed to fostering a robust youth movement capable of addressing societal challenges and empowering future leaders. Established in 2020 as a purely voluntary organization, CYM aims to improve the personal and social lives of its youth members. The organization seeks to enhance the lives of its youth members by providing structured programs and initiatives aimed at fostering personal growth, leadership skills, and community engagement.
